Headline:Along for the Ride by Marshall Lipp
Description:This stormy shot with gravel road near New Salem captures the wide-open prairie as an evening summer storm passes by, representative of so much of the center portion of rural North Dakota. In the year of social and physical distancing, this image definitely represents being away from the crowds. A solitary lightning strike is captured in great clarity in the distance. Timed prior to sunset, the angle of the sun seems to light the edges of the clouds on fire. The texture of the clouds is similar to the texture of the plains. Category winner in the Beyond the Badlands Scenery category.
